Hello!
As the new Race Director for 2009, I want to welcome all of you to the Get-a-Running Start community. With less than 6 weeks to go before the 12th Annual race, I think it is about time to start communicating directly to all of you who make this event so meaningful- the racers!
If this is your first road race or if you are new to Get-a-Running Start, please take a moment to look around the website and its various links. There's a lot going on!
Returning racers will notice a few positive additions to Get-a-Running Start that you should check out too:
- This community website! It's new, and it's interactive, so feel free to post questions, suggestions, training tips or just general comments right here on the site. We welcome your input and will respond as soon as we can
- A facebook event page where you can easily invite your friends to join you and see who else is participating
- A dailymile event page at dailymile.com where you can log and track your training progress, show off pictures, send positive motivational messages to people you know, search for other upcoming fitness events and find friends to run, walk, bike, hike or even skip with as you prepare for Get-A-Running Start on Sunday, May 17th
- An official partnership with the National MS Society who will receive partial race proceeds
- A new option for Wheelchair Participants in the Walker's Division
- A post-race RAFFLE with incredible local prizes*
- A Red Fox Bar and Grille Brunch, free for all racers and $5 for family and spectators*
- A cool new T-Shirt design- free for the first 175 registered runners & walkers
* 100% of Raffle and Brunch proceeds will go directly to the National MS Society
From now until RACE DAY: SUNDAY, MAY 17th, I will continue to post updates and helpful details about the race, our sponsors, race and raffle prizes, and training information.
Make sure to check back often or simply select "
Subscribe to: Posts" below this entry or the "

That's it for now... it's time for me to go running. See you out there!
